Patty Grigsby,
Therapist, LCSW
Patty bases her practice on a collection of accessible tools that are practical and useful for your real-life situations. She believes that therapy works when the provided tools and insights work with your everyday experiences. Through a person-centered approach, Patty works to meet all clients, and their families, exactly where they are on their journey – which often means sampling from the very best of a diverse array of approaches and techniques.
Patty’s passion for mental health dates to a remote, high-school psychology class completed in the small, corner room of a rural Minnesota school library. With a strong belief in recognizing that mental health is health, she developed the perspective that positive, preventative, and responsive mental health care is a crucial part of general health and wellness. Patty has over 8 years’ experience in mental health care, both in research and clinical practice. She received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Minnesota, and a master’s degree in clinical social work from the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, MN.
Patty has experience in diverse clinical settings, including school settings and rural private practice. She currently works with people across the lifespan on varied areas of clinical concern. Patty has worked with children as young as 18 months. Patty employs a special focus in attachment theory, parenting, trauma, and adolescents. Her therapy space is centered on a relational, person-centered approach and places immense value on the therapeutic relationship. Patty employs a variety of interventions, but often samples from mindfulness based cognitive behavioral therapy, cognitive process therapy, parts work, play therapy, and sand tray work. Patty’s therapy space is gender affirming and neurodiverse affirming.
Outside of the therapy space, Patty enjoys day trips, adventuring, cooking, and spending days reading at the park with her husband and son.
