Reiki

What is Reiki?!

Reiki, (pronounced Ray-Key), is a safe and natural energy healing technique that reduces stress and anxiety and promotes healing. Just as the physical body has a circulatory system through which blood flows, it also has as energy system that flows to replenish organs, tissues, and cells. The physical body can be influenced when energy is blocked. Some signs of blocked or imbalanced energy are mental fatigue, feelings of disconnection, emotional stress, physical pain or discomfort, insomnia, low self-esteem, and difficulty focusing. Some people feel significantly better after one session. However, when a condition or concern is chronic, it is beneficial to have multiple sessions. Reiki for Children

Reiki can benefit children by promoting relaxation and confidence.  It can reduce anxiety and symptoms of depression, improve concentration, enhance relaxation and sleep, as well as enhance self-awareness and self-esteem.

Reiki treatments are safe and non-invasive.  Children today are dealing with anxieties, fears, peer pressures and educational pressures.  Reiki has been helpful in the treatment of ADD/ADHD, Autism, irritability, emotional behavioral issues, hyperactivity and oppositional defiance. Since Reiki works on all levels of the body-physical, mental, emotional and spiritual, the body will be able to use the energy to find balance in its own way.

For young and very active children, Reiki can be performed while they are in a chair or resting on the treatment table. When a child is referred, a consultation can be conducted, either over the phone or in person, to discuss the child’s needs. Together, we can discuss what symptoms or behaviors are present that parents would like to improve upon. At that time, we can decide what the session would look like and what might be an optimal activity for the child to be engaged in while receiving treatment.  The session can be tailored to meet each child's individual needs.
